Nadine Baker

Nadine Baker  is the Assistant Director of Advancement Services. She earned her bachelor’s from Grace College in 2006. She is excited to be working at Manchester University and to be part of such a great team of people.

Nadine and her husband Tim live in North Manchester. They enjoy biking, adventurous outdoor activities in the summer, and working out with kettle bells. They also enjoy working on a variety of unique projects together and spending time with family and friends.

 


Elena Bohlander `14

A 2014 Manchester University graduate, Elena Bohlander is excited to be back on campus as the assistant director of The Manchester Fund. Elena’s non-profit experience includes serving as an intern and board member at One World Handcrafts, working at Education for Conflict Resolution, and working at Su Casa Catholic Worker Community during her time in Brethren Volunteer Service. She is passionate about nonprofit work and believes deeply in Manchester University’s mission statement.

Outside of the office Elena enjoys cooking, gardening and traveling. Elena’s favorite memories at Manchester include off-campus trips while in Cantabile Women’s Choir and living in the Peace House during her summer internship. 
 
Shannon Griffith

After serving as MU’s head football coach for 12 years, Griffith joined the advancement team in January 2016. A native of Fort Wayne, Ind., Griffith is a graduate of Ball State University. He served on the NCAA Championships committee for  four years and was named  HCAC Coach of The Year in 2012 when he led the Spartans to a 6-4 record and second-place conference finish. Griffith’s wife, Kim, is a speech therapist and operates her own clinic in Fort Wayne. They are the proud parents of daughter Ashley, a senior at the University of Indianapolis, and son Isaac, a junior at Indiana University and a member of the Hoosier football team. The Griffiths live in Columbia City, Ind., and enjoy time at Big Cedar Lake, watching IU football, and spending time with family and friends.


June Haecker
Data Specialist

June Haecker recently joined Advancement Services as a data specialist. She earned an associates degree in accounting from Indiana Business College. Prior to coming to Manchester University she spent 20 years in banking.

June and her husband Bobby are the parents of four children. In her free time she enjoys gardening, reading and attending her kids' sporting events.

Melanie Harmon
Vice President for Advancement

Melanie Harmon brings to her post 21 years of comprehensive experience in donor development and alumni relations.

Melanie holds a master's degree in philanthropic studies, a certificate in fund-raising management and a bachelor's degree in communication from Indiana University. She also has served in state and district leadership of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and currently serves on the CASE V board of directors.

She is an active Fort Wayne, Ind., citizen, with considerable school, community foundation, hospital, United Way, March of Dimes and other community service. Her husband Rob works for Parkview Hospital, and they have two children, a daughter Taylor (14) and son Quinn (11). Melanie enjoys running, biking, reading, and spending time with family and friends.


Janeen Kooi

Janeen Kooi, director of The Manchester Fund and Donor Relations, has been an annual fund professional in higher education for over 14 years because of her strong belief in the value of a liberal arts education.  Charged principally with raising unrestricted dollars to support the University mission, Janeen directs Manchester’s annual fund program through personal visits with donors, direct mail campaigns, e-solicitation, and Phonathon.  Janeen holds a BS in English from St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Ind., and an MFA in theatre from Western Illinois University.

Janeen has 3 daughters and a granddaughter to fill her time away from Manchester, and in any spare time, she enjoys reading, gardening, and theatre.
 


Amanda Kreps `96

Amanda Kreps brings to her position more than a decade of nonprofit experience and a deep commitment to the mission of Manchester University. She comes from a long line of Manchester graduates, which include her parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and all three of her siblings. Amanda graduated from Manchester in 1996 followed by two years of Brethren Volunteer Service in the Shenandoah Valley and Washington, DC.

Amanda holds a master’s degree in Social Work from Western Michigan University and spent several years leading affordable housing and civil rights programs in Louisville, KY. Most recently she served as development director for the Fourth Freedom Forum, a national think tank promoting global cooperation to prevent armed conflict, headquartered in Goshen, IN.

Away from the office, Amanda is busy with her two children, Sam and Ada and loves spending time with friends and family.
 



Megan Sarber `07
Manager of Donor Relations

Megan Sarber is the Manager of Donor Relations.  For the past few years, Megan has worked for non-profit organizations in community relations and fundraising. However, as a 2007 graduate, Manchester University holds a special place in her heart, and she is very excited to be back on campus and for the opportunity to work for this great institution!

Megan and her husband, Jody, live in North Manchester with their two daughters, Emersyn and Ainsley.  She enjoys going to cross country meets and watching her husband coach, learning about remodeling an 1880’s home, and watching her little girls grow.

Rita Schroll

Rita Schroll is the divisional administrative assistant for the Advancement Office.  Her responsibilities include working for the members of the development team. Rita also coordinates the college ambassadors. She began her tenure at MU in 1966 and has been kept busy ever since.


Jennifer K. Shepherd `84

Jennifer Mitchell ’84 Shepherd, executive director of Alumni Relations, joined the advancement team in 2013.  She comes to the University with 12 years of experience as an assistant principal at the high school level and 10 years of experience as a  theatre teacher.  Her creativity and initiative have taken the alumni office into the new millennium, improving communications across campus regarding alumni engagement and interactions, educating students about the important role that alumni play at the University, and planning new and exciting alumni events for networking and fun.  

Jennifer holds a BS in Secondary Education from Manchester University, an MA in Higher Education Administration from Kent State University, and a Secondary Administration and Supervision license from IU-PU in Fort Wayne.  â€‹She has two children, one of whom is a student at Manchester University.  She enjoys traveling, reading, theatre, and HGTV.  
 


Tracy Turner
Administrative Assistant to the Vice President for Advancement

Tracy recently joined the Office of Advancement as the administrative assistant to the Vice President for Advancement.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.  

Originally from Minnesota, she moved to Wabash, Indiana in December 2014.  Her husband Jason works for Frontier Communications and they have two children, Nathan (21), and Emily (19), a sophomore at the University of South Dakota.

Melissa K. Donaldson '99 West

Melissa West is the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations.  She holds a bachelor’s degree from Manchester in Athletic Training, and has worked for Manchester in the Offices of Admissions and Financial Aid.  Most recently she worked in the orthopedic industry doing marketing and human resources benefits.  She is thrilled to have the opportunity to return to Manchester in her current role, having missed the warm and welcoming environment that she came to love as a student and staff member.  
Melissa and her husband Adam, also an MU alum, live just north of town with their three daughters, Emma, Ainsley, and Hadley.  She enjoys reading, watching her girls’ activities, and coaching volleyball.

JoHanna Young has been serving the Advancement team for over eight years.  Having earned her bachelor’s degree from Ball State University, she is thrilled to be back in her hometown.  Having grown up in North Manchester, JoHanna is familiar with the great reputation the University has in the community and feels lucky to be a part of the team in the Advancement Office.
